JOB DESCRIPTION
Voyager Search combines modern, high-speed, highly accurate, and resource-efficient web search technologies with geospatial data. We are the only enterprise search solution that speaks spatial natively. We are looking for a driven, creative, and passionate developer who can help us extend the Voyager platform to read new data formats, connect with new types of content repositories, and bring geospatial context to traditionally non-spatial formats.
This is a great opportunity to make the Voyager platform shine in large installations. The Solution Architect will convert a customer’s requirements into reality by first building the architecture document and then helping to implement that solution. The ideal candidate should be a motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently in a remote work environment as you will be working at a customer site or at home. You should be a clear communicator who can relay information verbally and in writing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide hands on guidance, advice and support for enterprise customers including solution development and system administration.
- Work with product management to define and document customer’s needs.
- Identify, define and document enhancements or bugs in the software and advocate on the clients’ behalf for these solutions to be implemented.
- Provide the technical architecture and design sections of proposals.
- Develop custom applications or demos using Voyager technology
- Follow Voyager Search internal processes to investigate problem areas and customer issues, and report them clearly and thoroughly
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelors in geography, computer science, engineering, or related field
- Working knowledge of Java, .NET, Javascript, XML, JSON or related programming languages
- Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or related RDBMS
- Experience working with customers and defining solutions
- Experience working with cloud environments like Azure and AWS
- Experience reading requirement documents, designing systems, and writing technical requirements
- Familiar with Apache Solr/Lucene
- Knowledge of cartographic principles, image processing and GIS software, especially the ArcGIS desktop and server platform
- Strong software debugging, testing and problem solving skills
- Must be able to travel and work at client sites
- Self-motivated
