Apply Now

Voyager Search combines modern, high-speed, highly accurate, and resource-efficient web search technologies with geospatial data. We are the only enterprise search solution that speaks spatial natively. We are looking for a driven, creative, and passionate developer who can help us extend the Voyager platform to read new data formats, connect with new types of content repositories, and bring geospatial context to traditionally non-spatial formats.

This is a great opportunity to make the Voyager platform shine in large installations. The Solution Architect will convert a customer’s requirements into reality by first building the architecture document and then helping to implement that solution. The ideal candidate should be a motivated self-starter who is able to work independently in a remote work environment as you will be working at a customer site or at home. You should be a clear communicator who can relay information verbally and in writing.

Experience with Amazon’s cloud computing framework, along with Cloud Foundry, will be essential in supporting customer’s migration to the cloud as well as serving as an advisor to Voyager Search’s internal development team on best practices for delivering cloud solutions.

The candidate should be part developer, part system administrator, and part concierge. They should have both the know-how and the charm to help our customers and make them feel confident about our solutions. The candidate should be bold enough to propose clear solutions and architectures to clients as well as be able to take direction and feedback but also provide constructive criticism.

In this role, you will be working with the brightest minds in the US Defense and Intelligence community to implement leading edge geospatial solutions.

These jobs are based in Aurora, Colorado, St. Louis, and Washington, DC. Limited travel will be required beyond those locations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working on site with the customer and system integrators to execute the client’s vision for an enterprise search solution that uses Voyager at its core
  • Provide hands on guidance, advice and support for enterprise customers including solution development and system administration.
  • Work with product management to define and document customer’s needs.
  • Identify, define and document enhancements or bugs in the software and advocate on the clients’ behalf for these solutions to be implemented.
  • Provide the technical architecture and design sections of proposals.
  • Develop custom applications or demos using Voyager technology
  • Creating and/or reviewing requirements, architecture and design specifications from customers
  • Follow Voyager Search internal processes to investigate problem areas and customer issues, and report them clearly and thoroughly

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and holder of a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelors in geography, computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Working knowledge of Java, .NET, Javascript, XML, JSON or related programming languages
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or related RDBMS
  • Ability to develop the knowledge to customize and enhance Voyager and the front-end app, Navigo, to meet the needs of NGA data stewards and consumers
  • Experience working with customers and defining solutions
  • Experience working with cloud environments like Azure and AWS
  • Experience reading requirement documents, designing systems, and writing technical requirements
  • Familiar with Apache Solr/Lucene
  • Knowledge of cartographic principles, image processing and GIS software, especially the ArcGIS desktop and server platform
  • Strong software debugging, testing and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated
